But I woke up this morning, after having a particularly terrible dream about my job--in that I was still working--and felt the need to write what it is I do for posterity and the boredom of my flist.

Shiromeikyuu (vol 33) came out recently, and I just bought and read it yesterday. I was already aware of the general going ons in the Kyou and Ippei side of the equation because of reports on various fansites, but I was surprised to find myself tearing up after seeing Yuuki and Akira after a wait of two years. So here's an update on them.
- Akira did indeed break things off with his girlfriend, and got a punch in the face from her friend of hers for the trouble. (Which is kinda understandable and deserved, in my opinion...too bad Asuka was too nice to belt him)
- The relationship dynamic is more or less unchanged, at least in public. Akira still gets pissy over PDAs.
- There will not be an Akira and Yuuki chapter in the next volume either. So probably around another half a year before they make more than a cameo. I just hope there's at least a short omake with them, unlike Kuromeikyuu.
- There was an omake set in Edo Japan at the end of the volume for the two of them, but I think I would have preferred insight into how their relationship is currently going. Beggars can't be choosers, though...
There was a page with this little exhange (aimed at Kamiya) that I thought was cute enough to translate:

| Back from Anime Expo |

Report:
Day One:
- We saw the opening ceremony, and all of us fell deeply in love with Furuya Toru.
- Did a lot of shopping throughout the day, as one of us is a huge shopaholic. (Not me.)
- Desperately searched for the CMX booth in the dealer room without luck.
- Watched some anime.
- Watched Densha Otoko, all of us enjoyed it.
Day Two:
- Late start, but we got there in time to go to Furuya's panel. It was awesome, and our love deepened even further. My little brother got to ask him a question.
- Got all our Saint Seiya stuff signed by Furuya. I was sent into spasms of happiness when he ooh'd and ahh'd over what I had for him to sign.
- More shopping. No luck at getting gashapon. (Anyone want a Rider? We have, like, three...) Got a lot of manga. Found the CMX booth, gave them my warmest regards, got a pin.
Day Three:
- Went to ADV panel to see what was up about Saint Seiya. Not much, unfortunately.
- More shopping. I found a some boxes of magical girl figures that included Magical Emi. Bought a couple. No Emi or Mai. Bought a couple more. Still no Emi or Mai. Bought more. FINALLY Mai, no Emi. Dealer room closes.
- Checked out the karaoke room.
Day Four:
- Last bit of shopping. Bought four magical girl boxes...three were Emi. ::sigh::
- Saw the AMV awards.
- Went to "Whose Line is it Anime"
- Went home. |

Today seems to be my "HOLY SHIT" manga/anime day.
1) After SIX YEARS I finally fully understand my favorite anime OAV. I honestly never thought I'd hit that point, so it's a strange feeling to go back and watch something that's mystified me for more than five years and UNDERSTAND it all. All the weird sequences, all the undertones, why this happens, what she's talking about, all of it.
2) I was in BookOff, so I glanced at a volume of Ring ni Kakero 2. HOLY SHIT. [spoiler] DIES?! I mean, it's understandable, and logical, and everything, but still, he DIES?! I didn't think you were allowed to kill off members of the good guy team in hotblooded sports manga...
3) I stopped by Kinokuniya and picked up the latest Betsu HanaYume. And again, HOLY SHIT, [spoiler] is Kyou's DAD?! Oh, man, do I feel like a creepy perv for thinking they might make a good couple at one point. I literally stopped and stared at the page for about a minute in shock. (BTW, Yuuki showed up in a panel and I almost squealed out loud. DAMN do I hope she gets back to Yuuki and Akira soon.)
So kudos to Kurumada and Kamiya for writing stuff that actually throws me for a loop. Yay Hoshino for her manga making more sense than her anime adaptation. |

Dear Hana Yori Dango Drama,
Please stop making me squeal like a six year old. It's upsetting my cat.
Please stop making me fall in love all over again with a guy that tries to make girls lick stuff off his shoes. It makes me look like a hypocrite.
Please, couldn't you have gotten a better actress for Shizuka? She's pretty bad.
Please explain how ending up in that exact postion is even possible. Wasn't Tsukushi falling on top of him?

Things I Find Amusing:
- How people talked about how they're so sick of people reading homosexual subtext into male friendship and why can't those delusional people get a clue already, ect, ect RE: Young Avengers. And then, surprise of surprises, Hulkling and Asgardian ARE gay! Score one for the "delusionals".
- People on AoD constantly bitching if so much as a single nipple is erased, while in the Runaways graphic novel, dialogue AND art was edited from the original run. Funny how the comic fans didn't flip out and start mailing death threats to Marvel.
- It sounds like there's going to be a Power Pack movie. My little inner fangirl has collasped with complete and utter glee, and my more adult half is just praying they'll do it right.
